Preparing for Your Virtual Presenation

Virtual sessions are designed for presenters who are not able to be present in-person at the conference.

To submit a proposal for a Virtual Lightning Talk or Virtual Poster, visit the Call for Papers. Once you have an accepted proposal and a completed registration, you can begin the steps below to prepare for your session.

1 Submit Your Full Presentation

Final presentations are due no later than one month prior to the conference. View submission information and guidelines below.

2 Meet Presenters & Engage with Peers

Presenting virtually allows you to meet and connect with research network members across the globe. Update your profile and connect with colleagues through our Scholar Community.

3 Make Use of Your Benefits

There are many benefits of a virtual presentation – don't forget to take advantage of our unique benefits below.

1. Submit Your Presentation

All virtual presentations must be submitted no later than one month prior to the conference – 27 May 2018

Overview and Guidelines:

  • Virtual Lightning Talks are 5-minute video presentations on YouTube where authors present summaries of their work, describing the essential features of their work related to purpose, procedures, outcomes, or product. Please view the complete guidelines and instructions for creating your Virtual Lightning Talk here.
  • Virtual Posters are ideal for presenting preliminary results of work in progress or for projects that lend themselves to visual displays and representations. Guidelines and instructions for creating your Virtual Poster must be followed and can be found here.


  • Virtual Lighting Talks must be uploaded through the Arts in Society Research Network YouTube Channel. Please follow the instructions for uploading your presentation here.
  • Virtual Posters – Once completed using the guidelines above, send an email to the conference secretariat at for access information to upload your virtual poster. The "Subject" of your email must be formatted as follows, including your accepted proposal number – example: “Virtual Access – A17P0001”.

Changes to Your Presentation:

Changes to your presentation after 27 May 2018 will not be reflected in the program. All Virtual Presentations must be submitted before 27 May 2018 or they will not be included in the conference program. We suggest submitting your presentation early to ensure there are no issues during submission. If you have any questions or issues, contact us.

As a Virtual Presenter, you have the benefit of engaging with scholars and academics from all corners of the globe. Along with members of The Arts in Society Research Network and all in-person and virtual conference participants, you can use your Scholar account and Community profile to meet peers, share your presentation, share published work, and initiate knowledge and learning conversations, with optional feeds to Facebook and Twitter.
