Martin Lang

Martin Lang is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Lincoln (UK). He is an artist and an interdisciplinary researcher specialising in political aesthetics, art activism, and contemporary populism. He holds a fully funded PhD in the History and Philosophy of Art from the University of Kent and an MA in Fine Art from the University of the Arts London.

His research introduces dialectical ethicism—a methodology that combines analytic philosophy of art with critical theory to explore the instrumentalisation of art in democratic societies. He has published widely across academic journals and edited volumes, and contributes to public discourse through journalistic writing and curated exhibitions. He is committed to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and advancing socially engaged artistic research.

Alongside his academic work, Lang maintains an active painting practice, which has been exhibited internationally.
